Prerequisites & Requirements
- Supported 80mm or 58mm ESC/POS thermal receipt printer
- Ethernet cable or Bluetooth pairing capability
- Receipt paper roll loaded
Overview
Scaneet is built to work with standard, non-proprietary point-of-sale hardware. You do not need to buy locked-down hardware bundles. This guide explains supported printers, connection types, and cash drawer integration.
Supported Thermal Printers
Scaneet works with standard ESC/POS compatible thermal printers:
- Recommended Paper Width: 80mm (3-inch) for full receipt details and kitchen order tickets.
- Compact Width: 58mm (2-inch) supported for receipt printing.
- Popular Brands Tested in Pakistan: Epson, Xprinter, Rongta, Sunmi, Bixolon, Star Micronics.
Connection Options
1. Network / Ethernet Printers (Recommended for Kitchens)
For kitchen environments, an Ethernet cable connected to your local network router provides the most resilient communication:
- Connect the printer to your router with a standard RJ45 cable.
- Turn on the printer while holding the feed button to print its IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.150).
- In Scaneet POS Settings → Printers, click Add Printer, enter the IP address, and tap Test Print.
2. Bluetooth Printers (Recommended for Mobile Waiters / Carts)
- Turn on Bluetooth on your tablet or smartphone.
- Pair with the printer in your device's system settings.
- Open Scaneet POS settings and select your paired Bluetooth printer from the hardware list.
3. Cash Drawer Connection
Connect your standard RJ11/RJ12 cash drawer cable directly into the DK (Drawer Kick) port at the back of your thermal printer. When a cash payment is completed in Scaneet POS, the printer automatically sends the impulse to pop the cash drawer open.
Troubleshooting
- Printer printing blank paper: Ensure the thermal paper roll is inserted right side up; thermal paper only prints on one side.
- Network printer not responding: Verify that your tablet/computer and the printer are connected to the exact same local Wi-Fi subnet.
